Do Not Forget

With spring break approaching, many students have the opportunity to travel, have a fun time, and party; but is that really why we celebrate this week.  Some of us might go to the beach and some of us might go on vacation.  We can all have a fun time in the sun, but we have to remember that not only is it spring break, it is Easter, the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead.  Easter is a day when we celebrate Christ’s death and resurrection.  We must not forget why we celebrate Easter and why we take a week off of school.  Spring break gives us all an opportunity to focus on the Lord and to praise Him for what He has done on the cross for us.  I’m not saying that we can’t have fun this spring break, and go to the beach or party.  I just wanted to remind everyone of why we celebrate Easter and why we must always remember what Jesus did on the cross for us.  Jesus told the disciples a command that day, one which we all should follow.  Mark 16:15-16 says, “Go into all the world and preach good news to all creation.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”  We must always remember why Jesus died on the cross for us, He died so that we may be saved, he sacrificed His life for ours.  Don’t get so caught up in the world this spring break, but remember why we really celebrate this week.

  1. Kudos! I will be gone for Easter and the sad fact is that so far away from home, and at the heart of indulgence, Cancun, it will be a struggle for me to remember even the most important event in history… Pray for me, pray for us all.

  2. Amen. It angers me very much when our “all accepting” world dumbs down certain holidays and commercializes them to make the appealing to all. I want, us as Christians, to be able to engage in this world and festivities herein, but we also need to fight for the sanctity and holiness of our religious holidays.

  3. Great point. I know we forget the most important person in our lives way too often. This is the week when Jesus died and rose again from the dead to save our pathetic lives. How have we repaid Him? We celebrate his death and resurrection by hiding eggs and eating chocolate bunnies….
somehow I think we are missing the point.
